Hi Stu. I have the exact same one. You are right. They a very handy. I also have the date kit that you can get from Rockler also. I like dating my work through the years. I am slowly working my way back branding all my work that I still have access to!
Also, I made a simple guide from some right angle that I clamp to the work piece. It helps me get the brand nice and straight and also gives me a reference point in case I need to go back over it in the event of an uneven burn etc.
