Added a pegboard to be the new shadow board for some of the tools. Rather than hammer nails into a board, or use some of the manufactured board version (which looks pretty shabby pretty quickly), I’ve gone for a punched metal version. It looks better, and will outlast the timber version.
Of course, a pegboard creates its own challenges- not able to place things exactly where you’d want, difficult to deal with some tools (like open ended spanners), and the hooks have a habit of leaping out of the holes.
A magnetic strip deals with the open ended spanners, and some hot melt glue should solve the hook issues.
It was $55 for the 1200×600 board (in 3 sections).

OK Stu, that explains the rings, open enders, shifters and at a stretch, the vice grips, but I’m struggling to work out what sort of ‘machinery maintenance’ requires the use of a Fu-bar or a pipe wrench????

Ah, see that is where my explanation was a little short. Vice grips are great when dealing with dominos, dowels etc. After a dry fitup, sometimes they are still tight, so the vice grips are perfect.
The Fubar is also easy. Ever had a project just go completely pear-shaped? Infuriating, failed project, meet Fubar. Hope you enjoy your new acquaintenance!
Pipe wrench…..uh….would you accept hammer substitute? Removing a stubborn chuck from the drill press? How about holding a shaft while tightening the restraining bolts for the belt drive?
