Shed Upgrade – pt XVI

Dang, but this is a big project! Yesterday was my final day with the voluntary (coerced) help of my folks before they headed back to NZ (to recover!) We didn’t get as far as we would have liked, but pretty much broke the back of the project.

The day consisted of loosing tools, finding tools, repairing tools and using tools (kind of poetic). I think a couple of my clamps are still up the tree where they were tossed in disgust. A good clamp is invaluable, a bad one……..

It was roof day, and although I still needed tarps at the end of the day (still have 1/2 a roof to go), the shed is finally starting to look like one again.

The ridgeboard in place, supported by some U shaped wood clamps (made on the bandsaw). They are mainly to help at this stage, but will be left there permanently to transfer load to the stringers.

All the trusses in place, ready for the roofing tin.

Place panel, drill, screw, rinse and repeat!

We have a partial roof!

As always, there is no photo from the end of the day – I was too buggered, and there wasn’t any light anyway.

Demonstration @ Carbatec

Carbatec are holding another demonstration day in their Melbourne Store on Saturday May 3

Called “Mortising Pt 1”, it will focus on Hand mortising and Chisel mortises.

I don’t have any other details at this stage, but free demos are always at the right price!

Woodwork Shopping in Adelaide Pt 3 – Carbatec Announcement

***Announcement from Carbatec*** (Copied here for your information)

To all South Australian Woodworkers,

We can now confirm that we will be opening a new Carba-Tec store in Adelaide. We can’t offer an opening date yet but we plan to open within 8 to 10 weeks.

It has come to our attention that many customers in South Australia have been inconvenienced by the recent closing of Mik Adelaide. In light of this, we would like to make the following offer effective today, April 11, 2008 that will remain effective until our new Adelaide shop opens:

Any order placed by customers in South Australia during this interim period will be sent freight free. This includes any items that might have to be backordered during this period. In such cases we will accept your payment details and will record your backorder and note that the goods, when available, are to be sent freight-free. We will NOT charge your credit card in advance. It is our standard policy that we do not charge for goods until they’re ready to be dispatched.

Pricing for goods will be charged at our normal retail pricing (ex Brisbane). This offer is strictly limited to customers in South Australia.

We will also be setting up a new online store for our Adelaide shop, however this will not be set live until the shop has opened for business. Until then, please place any online orders to be sent to South Australia through our Brisbane online store.

***Update***
“Also, FYI, we’ve set Adelaide up on the map on our splash page (at the main www.carbatec.com.au (http://www.carbatec.com.au) address). If you click the Adelaide link you get a page with a notice about our plans to open, the free freight offer, etc as well as a link that takes them direct to the Bris shop to place an order if they wish to do so.”***

If you have any questions about this offer please contact us.
